Fire causes $500K damage to south London commercial plaza

Fire officials are probing a fire that caused over $500,000 damage to a commercial plaza in south London.

Firefighters were called to the building at 203 Exeter Road east of Wonderland Road around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday. When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.

No injuries were reported and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly.

An early estimate puts damage from the fire at more than $500,000.

Fire investigators remained on scene into the afternoon, working to determine the origin, cause, and circumstances of the blaze.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
