Charges laid after pellets shot at people, vehicles

A 27-year-old man is facing more than half a dozen assault charges after multiple people and vehicles were hit with pellets in south London.

Police began receiving 911 calls from people who reported being shot at and hit with the suspected BBs while on Southdale Road East near Wellington Road around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

A number of officers arrived on scene and within minutes arrested a suspect without incident.

A BB gun was also seized.

People hit by the pellets suffered minor injuries, police said.

A London man has since been charged with eight counts of assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 20.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
