One person injured during house fire near downtown London

London fire officials say one person was hurt in a fire that started at a home just east of the city's downtown core Sunday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the London Fire Department tweeted that crews were on scene of a structure fire that broke out in the 500-block of Pall Mall Street, which is just west of Adelaide Street.

Images posted by London fire crews show firefighters dousing down a burned out portion of the home. Fire officials said crews managed to get the fire under control before conducting an overhaul of the structure.

Emergency crews were also called to the scene and fire officials say one person was treated by paramedics. They have since been taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

Fire investigators have been called in to determine the origin, cause and circumstance surrounding the blaze.

A damage estimate has not yet been determined.
