Discovery of body in Gibbons Park leads to homicide investigation

London police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead in Gibbons Park over the weekend.

Officers were called to an area on Grosvenor Street shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday after an individual was found unresponsive near the entrance of the park. Paramedics were unsuccessful in their attempts to revive the man, and he was pronounced dead on scene a short time later.

Late Monday afternoon, London police announced that the investigation is now being treated as a homicide. The victim has been identified by officers as 52-year-old Daniel Joseph Fawcett, of London.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have been in the area of Grosvenor Street between Gibbons Park and Richmond Street between 2-7 a.m. on November 6.

Anyone with information is asked to call London police 519-661-5670, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be sent online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
