McGurn, Diaco named Knights co-captains

The London Knights have named a team veteran and a newcomer as co-captains for the 2022-23 season.

Sean McGurn and George Diaco were announced as team captains on Tuesday. Both are in their overage seasons.

McGurn served an an alternate captain last season. He has been with the Knights since he was drafted by the team 53rd overall in 2018. He is currently coming off what the Knights describe as a "career season" in which he recorded 73 points in 66 games. McGurn is the longest tenured member of the team.

Diaco on the other hand is a relatively new face on the team. He joined the Knights via a trade in early October and has provided 17 points in 12 games. Diaco is a London native. Growing up in the Forest City the Knights were his childhood team.

"McGurn will wear the C when the Knights wear their white jerseys and specialty jerseys while Diaco will wear the C when the Knights sport their green jerseys," the team said in a statement.

This is the third time in 7 years the Knights have named co-captains. Christian Dvorak and Mitch Marner shared the honour in the 2015-16 season and Alec Regula and Liam Foudy were co-captains in the 2019-20 season that was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
