Head-on crash east of Aylmer sends both drivers to hospital

Provincial police in Elgin County are investigating the cause of a head-on collision near Aylmer Tuesday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the crash on Talbot Line (Highway 3) between Heritage Line and Springer Hill Road shortly before 2 p.m.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene, and it was determined that the vehicles collided head-on. The occupants of both vehicles were taken to hospital. One driver was transported by land ambulance and the other by Ornge air ambulance.

Police say their injuries are non-life threatening.

The area was closed until just after 5 p.m. while police investigated.

Officers say charges are pending. However, it is not yet clear what type of charges will be laid.
