Fog significantly reducing visibility across London region

Anyone heading out on the roads Thursday morning will want to leave a little earlier than planned

There is thick fog around the London region causing visibility to be significantly reduced in spots.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for London-Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, and Huron-Perth.

"Persistent fog with visibility near zero is occurring in widespread areas and will continue through the early morning hours," the national weather agency stated.

Drivers are advised to turn on their vehicle's headlights and tail lights, slow down, and maintain a safe following distance.

The fog has led to school bus cancellations in Oxford County. According to MyBigYellowBus.ca, morning buses will not run in the county, but will be on in the afternoon unless otherwise posted. All other routes will be running on schedule.

The fog will burn off rapidly late Thursday morning. The rest of the day is forecast to be sunny with an above average high of 11 C. The seasonal temperature for this time of year is 4.9 C.
