UPDATE: Three vehicle crash closes part of Wellington Road

Two people were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle crash in south London Tuesday evening.

According to London police, emergency crews were called to a crash on Wellington Road, south of Wilkins Street, at around 5:20 p.m.

Members of the London Fire Department arrived and said the collision involved three vehicles. Firefighters helped to free one person from a vehicle, while two others were taken to hospital by paramedics.

In an update at around 8:30 p.m., officers said the injuries sustained by those involved appear to be non-life threatening. Due to this development, the London Police Service's uniformed division will continue with the investigation, rather than the traffic management unit.

Wellington Road South between Commissioners Road East and Southdale Road East was closed for several hours while police investigated and cleared the scene. The area has since been reopened.

No other details have been provided.
