Nine handguns, drugs seized during wanted man's arrest

London police not only arrested a wanted man, but also took nine handguns off the streets in the process.

Officers spotted the man, who was wanted in relation to a number of offences including flight from police, driving in the northeast-end of the city Thursday afternoon. The man stopped at a convenience store around 1:10 p.m. He was followed in by officers who arrested him on his outstanding warrants, police said.

A search conducted as part of the investigation turned up a loaded Glock 26 9mm handgun, a Sig Sauer .40 handgun, a Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun, a Smith & Wesson MMP 380 Automatic handgun, a Smith & Wesson 380 Automatic handgun, a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE handgun, a Glock 9mm handgun, a Ruger .40 handgun, a Stoeger STR 9mm handgun, two cell phones, four TEC pills, 35 grams of suspected cocaine, and over $2,500 in cash.

The drugs are valued at $2,050, police said.

A 24-year-old London man has been charged with 25 offences including 12 counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, two counts each of possession of a firearm for trafficking and carelessly carrying a firearm, and one count each of possession of a prohibited device, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, and driving while prohibited.

The man was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on Friday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
