Pickup truck no match for sturdy Langton ATM

Thieves attempting to steal an ATM from inside a business southeast of Tillsonburg were forced to leave empty handed.

Norfolk OPP say the attempted theft happened at an Albert Street East business in Langton around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. Thieves allegedly tried to pull the money machine from a vestibule using a chain and a pickup truck.

When the attempt failed to totally free the ATM, the thieves took off in a dark-coloured pickup.

No money was stolen, however, damage to the ATM was extensive, police said.

Police are looking for three suspects who were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
