Fire that destroyed multiple vehicles suspicious

One person has been arrested in connection with a suspicious fire that saw several vehicles set ablaze in east London.

A citizen called firefighters after spotting the vehicles on fire in a parking lot on York Street east of Lyle Street around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly and no one was hurt.

A damage estimate has not been released, but police said "multiple" vehicles were involved.

A person was taken into custody following the fire. So far no charges have been laid.

"The investigation is in its early stages," police said.
