Rental vehicle clocked at more than double the speed limit in Middlesex

A 20-year-old Londoner is without their rental car and driver's licence after allegedly doing more than twice the speed limit on a Middlesex County road.

OPP clocked a white, four-door sedan travelling at 145 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone Tuesday night.

The vehicle was pulled over without incident.

A 20-year-old from London was charged with stunt driving and had their licence suspended for 30 days.

The car, which police said was a rental, was towed and will be impounded for 14 days.

A stunt driving conviction in Ontario carries fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 and six months in jail. Last April, the provincial government also made it so drivers convicted of stunt driving must complete a driver improvement course or have their licence cancelled.
