Two killed in crash involving transport south of Strathroy

A serious crash between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer has left two people dead southwest of London.

The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Glendon Drive and Melbourne Road in Southwest Middlesex Township just after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The driver and a passenger in the pickup were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are not being released until next-of-kin can be notified, Middlesex OPP said.

The transport driver was not hurt.

Investigators with the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team are probing the cause of the collision.

The intersection was closed for several hours, but re-opened around 2:30 p.m.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 1-888-310-1122.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
