Human remains found near river in Dorchester

Middlesex OPP are investigating after human remains were found in Dorchester.

A person fishing just before 2 p.m. Wednesday found what appeared to be a human skull along the banks of the Thames River off Hamilton Road near Byron Avenue.

Police were called and taped off the area near a steep embankment.

The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are working alongside police.

"A post-mortem examination will be conducted to attempt to identify the remains and determine a cause of death," OPP said in a statement Thursday morning. "The investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released when it becomes available."
