Some St. Thomas area power outages could last until Friday night

Thousands of residents on the outskirts of St. Thomas could be without power until Friday night after a freezing rain storm swept the region.

Hydro One says 2,774 customers in the area of Southdale Line and Centennial Road are experiencing outages due to extreme weather conditions. Crews are working to get service back in the area.

However, according to Hydro One's outage map, affected residents may not have their power restored until Friday at 11 p.m.

Other areas in and around St. Thomas were also impacted by Wednesday's freezing rain storm.

St. Thomas police advised that Centennial Road is closed from Talbot Street to South Edgeware Road due to downed power lines.

West of St. Thomas, just under 1,500 residents of Shedden are also without power. Crews are working in the area of Talbot Line and Union Road and assessing the damages. A time of restoration has yet to be determined for these customers.

To report an outage to Hydro One, you can text 92887 (WATTS), call 1-800-434-1235, or use their online tool for updates.
