Rat thief sought in St. Thomas

It is an item most people wouldn't want, even if it were free.

But police in St. Thomas are looking for the person who stole pet rats.

According to police, a city resident had posted an ad to sell the rodents on a popular buy-and-sell website. A prospective buyer contacted the seller and made arrangements to pick them up on Sunday.

The buyer showed up as planned but then took the rats without paying.

No description of the suspect has been provided.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
