High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Investigators are probing the sudden death of a child in West Elgin County.
According to Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), emergency crews responded to a report of a child without vital signs at an address on Dymock Line, west of Dutton, just before 5 p.m. Monday.
Police officers arrived and found family members who had performed life-saving measures. The youth was then taken to hospital where they were sadly pronounced deceased.
"No foul play is suspected as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death and officers remain on scene," read a statement issued by OPP on Tuesday.
The identity of the child is not being released.
