Police lay charge in downtown stabbing

One man has been charged in a stabbing in London's downtown core.

Police announced the charges on Tuesday, following a weekend stabbing at a home on Maitland.

The incident happened Sunday morning around 1 a.m. at a residence on Maitland Street. Police said the victim was the one to make the emergency call, alleging that a man had broken into the home and stabbed him.

Once crews arrived at the scene, Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to hospital with serious injuries. No update has been provided on his condition.

Investigators say Simon Melcie Frank Warner, 37, of London, has been charged with aggravated assault and break and enter and commit.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
