Charges laid after city bus stolen, crashed into mall construction barricade

A short lived joyride in a stolen city bus has led to charges against a 38-year-old London man.

The unoccupied London Transit bus was parked outside of White Oaks Mall when a man allegedly got behind the wheel and stole it around 2 p.m. on Monday. The man drove the bus a short distance before hitting a cement barricade.

London police were called and the man was arrested without incident.

A London man has since been charged with dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.

No one was hurt and the mall was not damaged, police said.
