London woman wins over $85K in 6/49

An occasional lottery player had a stroke of good luck, taking home a prize of $85,379 from a recent LOTTO 6/49 draw.

London resident Carol Asselstine said this is her first big lotto win. She picked up her ticket for the March 29 draw from the White Oaks Ticket Centre on Wellington Road.

"I was checking my ticket at the store and saw the 'Big Winner' message. I didn't believe it. I had to check it a second time. I was so excited," Asselstine said.

With her winnings, Asselstine plans to upgrade her vehicle. The rest, she said, will be put away until she decides what to do with it.

Asselstine said her children were the first to hear the news.

"They're so happy and excited for me," she added. "They said I deserve this."

The $85,379 cheque was the second prize in the March 29 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
