If you've ordered an event ticket online, you've probably watched bitterly as added service fees hike up the final bill. But what if your extra dollars were instead going towards a worthy cause?
London's Aeolian Hall has partnered with a non-profit ticketing platform called Humantix, which donates its profits to childhood education charities around the world. The local venue is the first in Canada to use this service.
Co-founders Josh Ross and Adam McCurdie were friends for more than a decade before coming up with the idea for Humantix.
"We didn't want to work on a business model which just chases profit at all costs, and we wanted to be proud of how we spent our time on earth," said Ross, who serves ticketing platform's director.
Based in Australia, Humantix has been funded by the Atlassian Foundation and The New South Wales Government of Australia. The non-profit also won the Google Impact Award in 2018, receiving grant of $1-million.
“We are thrilled to find a service that aligns with our values and offers something to better education access in the world. We hope others will take this opportunity to change the way we can do business." said the Aeolian's Executive Director Clark Bryan. "Imagine gifting education to struggling communities around the world. That’s simply the best social justice I can think of!"
Humantix was also happy to partner with the historic London venue.
