Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called a by-election in Oxford for June 19, 2023.
The Speaker of the House of Commons notified Chief Electoral Officer of Canada Stéphane Perrault that the seat for Oxford was vacant on January 30, and a by-election would be held to fill the spot.
Residents of the electoral district can cast their vote at their assigned polling station on advance polling days or on election day.
Advance polling days are set for Friday, June 9 until Monday, June 12.
Voters can also visit their local Elections Canada office anytime between now and Tuesday, June 13 at 6 p.m. You can also apply for a special ballot before this time, and return it by mail or directly to your Elections Canada office before the polls close on June 19.
In order to vote in Oxford, you must be a Canadian citizen who has lived in the electoral district from Monday, May 15 to Monday, June 19. You must show proof of your identity and address.
Voters must also be registered. To check if you are registered with the National Register of Electors, you can check online, call 1-800-463-6868, or visit your Elections Canada office. You can also register in-person at the polling station when you go in to vote.
By-elections will be held simultaneously in three other electoral districts across Canada - one in Quebec and two in Manitoba.
