Driver arrested in distress call incident

Woodstock police say a man has been arrested in relation to an incident over the weekend in which someone was heard yelling in distress.

On Sunday evening, officers responded to a parking lot in the area of Springbank Avenue North and Devonshire Avenue, where the anguished cry reportedly had been heard. Police located a bracelet with two charms, but did not find anyone in need of help.

Investigators later obtained footage of a white, single cab truck that was in the area around the time the incident occurred and put out a call asking for those involved to come forward. On Monday police said they had located the vehicle in question and the individuals involved and determined they were safe however, the investgation remained ongoing.

On Tuesday afternoon, Woodstock police announced a 41-year-old man from Bright was charged by police on Monday with dangerous operation and failing to comply with a release order.

Throughout the probe, police said there was no perceived risk to public safety.

Officers thank the public for their help in the matter.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
