Homes temporarily evacuated after gas line severed

A severed gas line forced the temporary evacuation of a northeast London neighbourhood.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Barker and Grosvenor streets after the natural gas line was cut shortly before 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

Homes and businesses were evacuated as a safety precaution. A London Transit bus was brought in to shelter people who were forced out of their residences.

Nearly an hour later, Enbridge Gas crews had capped the leak and people were allowed to return to their homes.

No injuries were reported.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
