Police use Taser on knife-wielding suspect

A 28-year-old from North Middlesex is facing nearly a dozen charges after allegedly approaching officers with a knife during an incident in Grand Bend.

Members of Lambton OPP were called about an altercation at a residence on Ontario Street North on Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Police said the accused was wielding a knife when he approached officers. While police de-escalated the situation, other officers from Lambton and Huron counties blocked off a portion of the roadway and began evacuating neighbouring households.

OPP said a Taser was used during the arrest.

The accused was charged with the following:

- Assault a peace officer

- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- Uttering threats to cause death

- Failure to comply with probation (three counts)

- Failure to comply with an undertaking (three counts)

- Possession of a prohibited device

- Possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order

Lambton OPP said the accused was held in custody following a bail hearing on Friday, May 12.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
