Driver found passed out inside car wash

A 35-year-old man was arrested at a west London car wash after he was found unresponsive behind the wheel.

Police responded to a car wash in the area of Oxford Street West and Wonderland Road North shortly after midnight on Tuesday. They said a concerned citizen contacted police after knocking on the stopped car's window and being unable to wake the driver.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located an unconscious man in the driver's seat of a vehicle which was near the exit of the carwash.

Police were able to wake the driver up, and he was arrested without incident. As a precaution, the suspect was reportedly taken to hospital by paramedic services, but there have been no reported injuries.

As a result of the incident, police say the London man has been charged with impaired operation.

Police learned through investigation that the suspect was also a prohibited driver, so the 35-year-old was additionally charged with operation while prohibited.

The accused will appear in London court on June 26 to speak to the charges.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact London police at (519) 661-5670 or submit an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
