Teen charged after debris thrown at vehicles, officer assaulted

Charges have been laid after debris was thrown at passing vehicles and a police officer was assaulted south of London.

Elgin OPP were called about a person standing on Talbot Line west of Ron McNeil Line in Southwold Township around 8:50 a.m. on Sunday. The individual was reportedly hurling debris at vehicles, police said.

One officer was assaulted while trying to make an arrest at the scene.

No serious injuries were reported, police said.

An 18-year-old St. Thomas woman has since been charged with two counts of mischief over $5,000 and one count of assaulting a peace officer. She is scheduled to appear in St. Thomas court in relation to the charges on July 4.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
