Stolen vehicle, drugs found during arrest of suspected impaired driver

A call about a suspected impaired driver led London police to a stolen vehicle and a quantity of illegal drugs.

A person spotted the possible drunk driver on River Road south of Gore Road just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday and notified police.

Officers found the suspect vehicle in a parking lot shortly after. A man was climbing into the driver's seat at the time, police said. He was arrested without incident. An undisclosed amount of drugs were found on the driver's seat.

Further investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen on April 16.

A 47-year-old London man has been charged with impaired driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on June 30.
