Man stabbed in southwest London apartment

A man was sent to hospital Friday night after he was stabbed at an apartment building in the city's southwest end.

According to officials with the London Police Service, at around 9:20 p.m. on May 26, a man and a woman were walking towards an apartment building on Baseline Road west of Wharncliffe Road when another man approached the pair and initiated an arguement with the male victim, which led to a physical fight outside the apartment.

Police say the accused then followed the couple inside the apartment, which is when he allegedly stabbed the man. Police were then called.

The suspect reportedly tried to take off when police arrived. However, he was quickly arrested without further incident. A search of the man turned up two knives, police said.

Paramedics arrived and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

As a result, a 20-year-old London man faces charges of aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, breaking and entering, failing to comply with an undertaking and breach of probation.

The accused is scheduled to make a second court appearance on Tuesday.
