31 people rescued in local human trafficking investigation, RCMP says

A joint investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada Border Services Agency, and the London Police Service has resulted in 31 victims of human trafficking being returned to safety.

This comes to light after heavily armed officers swarmed an apartment building in south London on Thursday, according to several witnesses.

Corporal Christy Veenstra from the RCMP said a human trafficking investigation has been taking place in numerous locations throughout southwestern Ontario, London being one of them.

Veenstra also confirmed that two people have been arrested and hit with a long list of charges.

The RCMP says more information from the investigation will be released early next week.
