Officer allegedly assaulted by woman near downtown core

London police have charged a woman accused of threatening and assaulting an officer downtown last Friday.

According to police, the incident began at around 1:30 p.m. on June 16, near the area of Dundas Street, east of Richmond Street. A woman reportedly approached a person walking their dog when a disturbance ensued, police said.

When officers approached the suspect, she allegedly threatened both of them, and physically assaulted another.

The woman was arrested shortly after the altercation. One of the officers is said to have suffered minor injuries.

A 22-year-old London woman is charged with assaulting a peace officer and uttering threats.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 25.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
