Woman found asleep in stolen vehicle charged with impaired driving

Impaired driving charges have been laid against a London woman allegedly found asleep behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle.

London police were called about a suspicious vehicle in the area of Egerton and Pine streets around 7:30 a.m. on Monday. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot a short time later. The engine was running and a woman was asleep in the driver's seat, police said.

The woman was arrested without incident.

The vehicle had been reported stolen on Sunday, police said.

A 22-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving, failure to comply with a demand made by a peace officer, driving while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and breach of probation. The woman is to appear in court on Wednesday.
