Basement fire causes $10K in damage

The London Fire Department responded to a fire in the southeast part of the city overnight.

The department said Saturday morning, that the basement fire at a Vinewood Court residence was quickly contained and extinguished.

Fire crews rescued a cat and four kittens, reviving one with a pet oxygen mask.

Officials reported that there were no working smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors in the home.

Damages have been estimated at $10,000.
