Crash involving stolen vehicle leads to slew of charges

A 36-year-old man is facing nearly a dozen charges after a crash involving a stolen vehicle southwest of St. Thomas.

Emergency crews were called to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of McLean Line and Furnival Road in West Elgin around 5:15 p.m. on Friday. When OPP arrived on scene, they were told that the driver of one of the vehicles involved had taken off running from the scene.

Investigators determined the one vehicle had previously been reported stolen.

No injuries were reported, police said.

The accused has been released from custody and will reappear in St. Thomas court on July 18.
