Charges laid after two people assaulted, cat killed

A young man from the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation is facing several charges after two people were assaulted and a cat was killed during a break-in.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an address on Oneida Road at 3:14 a.m. on Saturday for a reported assault.

Police found that a person had broken into the home, assaulted the victim, and stolen items from the residence before fleeing the area in a vehicle. The suspect then returned to the home and attacked another person, police allege.

Both victims received minor injuries and didn't need medical attention.

A cat was also killed during the disturbance.

A 23-year-old man was arrested outside the residence. He faces charges including two counts of assault and killing or injuring an animal.
