Man charged after swastika spray-painted on downtown building

Charges have been laid against a London man after a downtown building and a south-end sign were vandalized with offensive and anti-Semitic graffiti earlier this month.

London police received a report of a man defacing a sign near Wellington Road and Southdale Road East around 11 p.m. on July 11. The same man was also spotted damaging a building near Dundas and Richmond streets, police said.

The damage on the downtown building reportedly included a spray-painted swastika and profanity.

A witness provided police with a description of the suspect and a 29-year-old man was arrested.

He has since been charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on August 7.
