Suspicious vehicle call leads OPP to drugs, prohibited device

Two Londoners are facing charges after OPP found drugs and a prohibited weapon while looking into a suspicious vehicle south of Woodstock.

Police were called about the vehicle on Lisas Drive in Sweaburg around 3 a.m. on Monday. Officers investigating the report found a damaged vehicle abandoned on the street.

Additional officers from the emergency response team and canine unit were brought in to help search for the occupants of the vehicle.

A 26-year-old and a 29-year-old from London, matching a description provided to police by a witness, were arrested.

An undisclosed quantity of drugs and a prohibited device were seized. Police did not elaborate on the type of weapon.

The younger suspect has now been charged with a dozen offences including possession of a prohibited device, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of drugs, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The other suspect has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of drugs.

Both of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
