Charges laid after people threatened with gun in Woodstock

A 28-year-old man is facing charges after a person was spotted threatening people with what appeared to be a handgun in Woodstock.

Police received 911 calls about the incident in the area of Mohawk Street and Iroquois Crescent just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. Witnesses told police a man was threatening people with a gun.

Officers arrived on scene and blocked off the area. The London police canine unit, along with Woodstock drug intelligence unit and criminal investigations branch, arrested a suspect shortly after.

A CO2 powered pellet gun was seized, police said.

A Woodstock man has since been charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on October 10.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
