Two people found dead in west London apartment

Investigators with the London police major crime section are probing the death of two people found in a west-end apartment on Thursday.

Police were called to the highrise building on Proudfoot Lane, south of Oxford Street West around 4 p.m. after a man and woman were found dead. The pair were known to each other, according to preliminary information obtained by investigators.

No details regarding a possible cause of death have been released.

"There is no information to suggest there is a risk to public safety," police said in a statement on Friday. "The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be provided as appropriate."

Investigators are expected to remain at the scene for the remainder of the day Friday.
