Adult and teen charged in weapons altercation inside local business

Police arrested an adult and a minor accused of threatening a security officer with a weapon at a downtown business late Sunday afternoon.

At around 3:10 p.m. September 10, two males entered a business in the area of Wellington and York streets. A security worker approached the pair, which is when both suspects allegedly pulled out knives, police said. The two males took off from the location and police were contacted.

No one was injured during the incident.

After being provided with a description of the suspects, officers subsequently located the two a short distance away.

A 22-year-old London man is charged with possession of a weapon and resisting arrest, while a 16-year-old London male faces one count of possession of a weapon. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The adult accused is also not being named as it could potentially identify the involved youth.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, while the teenager has an upcoming hearing scheduled for October 16.
