Man, woman found dead in London apartment died from gunshot wounds

Two people found dead in a west London apartment last week died as a result of gunshot wounds.

London police disclosed the cause of death on Wednesday following post-mortem examinations.

The bodies of a man and woman were discovered inside a unit at a highrise building on Proudfoot Lane, south of Oxford Street West around 4 p.m. last Thursday. A firearm was also found at the scene.

Investigators believe that the pair, whose names have not been released by police, were known to each other and that there is no risk to public safety.

"The investigation is ongoing, and investigators are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding these deaths," police said in a statement. "That work is taking some time; more information will be provided as appropriate."

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
