Pedestrian killed in east London collision

A collision in east London early Tuesday has claimed the life of a pedestrian.

Emergency crews were called to the crash in the area of Clarke Road and Dundas Street around 5:50 a.m. A pedestrian was found with serious injuries. That individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, London police said.

The vehicle involved in the collision remained on scene.

The London police traffic management unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Clarke Road between Dundas and Avalon streets is closed while investigators work. There is no word on when the street will be reopened, but the closure will likely be in place for the remainder of the morning.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area for the time being.
