Pair from London charged in Woodstock drugs, weapons bust

Woodstock police have pressed a slew of charges against two Londoners who were found inside a vehicle containing quantities of drugs and illegal weapons late last week.

At around 4:10 a.m. Friday, officers were notified about two men occupying a suspicious vehicle in the area of Blossom Park Road. One of the men had allegedly been walking around carrying a baseball bat, police said.

Officers subsequently located the suspect vehicle, what turned out to be a reported stolen Dodge Caravan from Middlesex County.

Through further investigation, officers turned up unspecified amounts of illegal drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and LSD. Several weapons were also found in the vehicle, such as a loaded, sawed off semi-automatic rifle, an airsoft replica handgun, a cattle prod, knives, axes, and a baseball bat.

As a result the men, ages 27 and 32, both from London, face joint charges including:

  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm weapon, prohibited device/ammunition

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Occupying a vehicle with a firearm

  • Occupying a vehicle with a restricted weapon

  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

  • Possession of a firearm knowing it has a tampered serial number

  • Possession of a schedule one substance (cocaine)

  • Trafficking of a schedule one substance (an opioid, other than heroin)

  • Possession of a scheduled one for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine)

Both men were remanded into police custody.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
