Norfolk man charged with threatening OPP officers

Charges have been laid against a 31-year-old man after a driver on Highway 401 allegedly began making threats against police over the phone.

OPP officers from Middlesex County, Oxford County, and Elgin County were dispatched to the busy highway just after 11:30 p.m. on Thursday. The caller's vehicle was identified travelling in the westbound lanes toward London.

Oxford OPP officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it took off from the area.

A short time later, police found the suspect vehicle parked at University Hospital.

With the help of London police, a 31-year-old Norfolk County man was arrested without incident inside the north London hospital.

That individual has since been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
