Fatal crash knocks out power southwest of London

One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash southwest of the city’s limits Monday afternoon.

At around 1:55 p.m., Middlesex OPP and emergency crews were called to an area of Decker Drive in Middlesex Centre for a report of a collision involving a commercial vehicle.

When officers arrived, they located the vehicle off the roadway, and observed that it had crashed, rolled and collided with a hydro pole. The lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene as a result of the injuries they sustained in the crash.

As a result, some power outages have been reported in the area. According to Hydro One, approximately 20 customers have been impacted. Hydro One's outage map estimated a restoration time of approximately 10 p.m. Monday.

“The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is on scene to assist with the investigation,” read a release from Middlesex OPP.

Decker Drive between Westdel Bourne and Cook Road remains closed until further notice while police continue their investigation. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
