Store clerk assaulted trying to break-up fight between pedestrian, driver

What started as a fight between a driver and pedestrian ended with a St. Thomas store clerk being assaulted.

St. Thomas police were called to a disturbance at the unnamed store on Sunset Drive on Wednesday. When officers arrived they determined a pedestrian had gone into the store after getting into an altercation with a driver.

The driver followed that person inside and when the clerk tried to break-up the fight, they were assaulted.

The driver, who had left the store before police got there, was identified and made aware that they were being arrested. The individual turned themself in at police headquarters shortly after.

A 48-year-old London resident has been charged with one count of assault. They have been released from custody with a future court date.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
