Police investigate double arson in downtown London

London police are probing a pair of suspicious fires that broke out east of the downtown core early Monday morning.

Emergency crews responded to two working fires at residential buildings on Dundas Street near Maitland Street at around 7:45 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and managed to put both blazes out. No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators subsequently concluded that both fires were suspicious. The case has since been assigned to London police with assistance from the London Fire Department.

Damage is estimated at around $200,000 for both buildings.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
