United Way seeks applications for community grants

Local charities are now able to apply for grants of up to $400,000 from the United Way.

The application process for the United Way Elgin Middlesex Community Fund Grant program is now open.

According to the United Way, charities can apply through an online portal from now until Friday, November 3, 2023.

“This is an open call to every group working so hard to help address big issues in our community related to poverty,” said United Way Elgin Middlesex CEO Kelly Ziegner. “The Community Fund Grant Program is an exciting opportunity to access financial support that will enable local organizations to put their poverty reduction and prevention plans into action and better help the people they serve. Funding for this grant program comes from our community members and it is intended to meet the needs in our community.”

The United Way says, in order to qualify for grants, organizations must provide service in Elgin and Middlesex. Groups will also have to meet the criteria set by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Funding agreements will start April 1, 2024 and end March 31, 2026.
