Drugs seized after motorcycle crashes into London police cruiser

A 56-year-old man is facing charges after a motorcycle London police were attempting to stop crashed into a cruiser.

Officers spotted the bike being driven "erratically" in the area of Richmond and Oxford streets around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. It was the second night police had seen the motorcycle being driven in a reckless manner downtown.

Police conducted a traffic stop as the bike stopped at a red light. But the motorcyclist, allegedly attempting to get away from officers, ended up crashing into the side of the police cruiser.

No injuries were reported.

The motorcyclist was arrested and an undisclosed quantity of drugs were seized.

A London man has been charged with failure to stop for police and possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges on December 1.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
