Teen girl charged after security guard threatened with knife

Charges have been laid against a 17-year-old girl after a London security guard was threatened with a knife while trying to stop a robbery suspect.

According to London police, a teenage girl walked into a business, which police did not name, in the area of Oxford Street West and Platt's Lane around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The girl allegedly stole property and when confronted by a security guard pulled out a knife and made threats. She then took off on a bicycle.

A description of the teen was given to police, who arrested a suspect a short distance away.

A search of the suspect turned up a knife, police said.

A 17-year-old girl, whose name cannot be released due to her age, has been charged with robbery. She is scheduled to appear in court on December 11.
